How to play

Classic: type any commander. Each guess adds a row comparing their talent trees, damage type, civilization, gender and release year with today's commander. Green means a match, red means no. The talents tile holds all three trees and turns yellow when one or two of them match, without saying which. Damage type works the same way and means every flavour of damage anywhere in the commander's kit, passives included, not just the active skill: Skill, Smite, Combo and True are the special ones, and a commander who deals none of them is Normal.

Skill: you get the description of one of the commander's skills with its name hidden. Name the commander. The skill icon appears after 3 wrong guesses and the skill name after 6.

Points: guesses are unlimited. A first-guess solve is worth 100 points, every wrong guess before the solve takes 10 off, and a solve is never worth less than 10. Solving on consecutive days keeps your streak alive. Points count towards the weekly (Monday reset), monthly and all-time leaderboards when you are signed in; signed-out play keeps its stats in your browser.

Medals: once a week or a month is over, its top three keep their placement for good and wear a gold, silver or bronze medal on their profile. Medals stack, so a player who finishes top three several times shows every one of them. The leaderboard's Last week and Last month views show those final standings.

Fair play: the answer is the same for everyone, and a Classic commander is a one-in-141 first guess. Five or more Classic puzzles in one week, every one of them solved on the first guess, is not guessing. When such a week ends all of its points are voided: they leave every board, the monthly and all-time totals included, and no medal is awarded for it. Skill mode is never counted for this, since knowing the kits is exactly what it tests.

Share your result with the Share button: it copies an emoji grid (green, yellow and red squares) you can paste anywhere, without spoiling the answer.
